101 in 1001 update

So I've put this list on the sidebar of my blog....now what? Most of my goals are ongoing so won't cross them off until 2011. As far as completed goals, I went to California, moved the trees in the backyard and cleaned my car in June, finished reading Little Women, put together a 500 piece puzzle and started training for a 5K in July. As for the ongoing goals, here's my progress:
*don't watch tv one day a week-good so far
*read newspaper once a week-check
*take Remington to the park once a week-half a check (walking through the park with the dog counts because he's too small to play on the equipment)
*take Remington to the pool twice a month-half a check (he gets a bad snot nose so am getting him his own blow up pool for our yard)
*take Remington to library once a month-not yet in July...work's been too busy for baby story time.
*host dinner once a month-good so far
*send a card to family and friend once a month-check
*keep in regular touch with distant relative-Kristel and Brad live in Parker so definitely don't want to fail on this one!
*reading the bible-Genesis and Exodus done!

The new neighbors have moved in....and haven't gotten cookies...work's been busy. This will be done within two weeks!!! I PROMISE!!

The 5K is the Race for the Cure on October 5th. Training has been easier than I thought it would be. I wasn't sure about running since I haven't since December 2006!

As for getting in touch with a friend from high school and an old coworker....I haven't yet but know who I want to find. Joanna Hart and JoBeth Karrs. If any of you know them, tell them to call me!!! Just kidding....I don't think many of you know either of them!

Getting new contacts hasn't been as easy as it should be! I went to the eye doctor in early June in hopes of getting my new contacts for my trip to Cali. The office called the day I left saying my contacts were in....awesome timing! So I picked them up Monday June 23rd. I put them in Tuesday and the left one had a tear. I called and they ordered a new one. It came in on Friday June 27th. I picked it up and wore them Saturday and Sunday. Monday June 30th the left one had a tear! I called and they decided to switch brands. Awesome....another trip/holiday without contacts AND sunglasses...the whole point of summer! Well two weeks later, Friday July 18th I pick up the new contacts and was surprised that they ordered a whole new set. Right and left. So I threw out the right one that I had from before. I put in the new contacts at the office and we left for the weekend. Well, we weren't even out of town when the RIGHT contact started bugging me. You guessed it! It had a tear! So yet another awesome summer weekend without contacts and sunglasses. Never mind the fact that my glasses are an old prescription!

101 in 1001

I was inspired by a friend of mine to do this. Set out to accomplish 101 things in 1001 days. I have compiled my list of goals and set the the date of MARCH 8, 2011 to complete them. My list is to the right of my postings.
I stole the following guidelines from my friend's blog.
The Mission: Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria: Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
Why 1001 Days? Many people have created lists in the past - frequently simple goals such as New Year’s resolutions. The key to beating procrastination is to set a deadline that is realistic. 1001 Days (about 2.75 years) is a better period of time than a year, because it allows you several seasons to complete the tasks, which is better for organizing and timing some tasks such as overseas trips or outdoor activities.
Some common goal setting tips:
1. Be decisive. Know exactly what you want, why you want it, and how you plan to achieve it.
2. Stay Focused. Any goal requires sustained focus from beginning to end. Constantly evaluate your progress.
3. Welcome Failure. Frequently, very little is learned from a venture that did not experience failure in some form. Failure presents the opportunity to learn and makes the success more worthy.
4. Write down your goals. It clarifies your thinking and reinforces your commitment.
5. Keep your goals in sight. Review them frequently, and ensure that they are always at the forefront of your thinking.
