Long Day Longer Night

Sunday, September 30th. No more ice chips and popsicles please! After 18 hours of no food, I asked the nurse to bring me food. She found what was available...a turkey ranch wrap. At 1 am, you eat what's available. The turkey ranch part was gross but the tortilla and the juice were wonderful. I was able to get cleaned up a little bit before I was transferred to my recovery room. Nathan was off with Remington doing what dads and their sons do....bath, weigh in, pictures, showing off to family. I was so glad that Nathan's parents and brother and my parents were all at the hospital.

I got to the recovery room somewhere around 1:30 am. Shortly thereafter, the nurse brought Remington in for me to breastfeed. How am I to have the energy to do this?! I guess this is where the motherly instinct of doing what moms do begins. When exhausted, we feed our children even if it is in the middle of the night! I asked the nurse for more food. She brought me toast and chocolate milk....what got me through the first four months of pregnancy!

Finally got to sleep around 3 am. Nathan had decided to not pack a bag for the hospital. So at 3 am he went home and showered and came back. I don't know when he got back. They brought Remington back in to feed around 5 am. I rested some more and then ordered breakfast. Pancakes, bacon, muffins, chocolate milk.

Around 8 am friends and family started showing up. People trickled in most of the morning and early afternoon. I finally got to nap for a long time during the horrible Broncos game. Then I took a shower. FINALLY....I just wanted to soak in a tub but a shower will do. Nathan's parents came in the early evening and we watched the Rockies game. Another night at the hospital and some good sleep.
